Processors (CPUs)

All computers rely on a processor, also called the central processing unit (CPU) to run software programs. The CPU performs all numerical calculations within the computer. It is also responsible for running the code within the programs which you purchase for your computer.

RC&E offers you several choices of PC compatible processors to suit your needs. Whether your purchasing decision is based on performance, price, home use or business use, we have a computer/processor solution to precisely meet your needs.

All of the processors we carry are guaranteed 100% compatible with all of today's PC software and operating systems. Bear in mind that the top performance CPUs offer new features that some of today's software programs (and a lot of tomorrow's) will be able to take advantage of for maximum performance. This is important for graphics intensive applications (CAD and 3D rendering), but not very important with regards to standard business applications. Below is a brief summary of the processors (CPUs) we offer and a brief description of each one's advantages.

Top Performance CPUs . . .

For Business and Advanced Personal Computing Needs

Intel

Pentium IV—Intel's Pentium IV & Xeon processors are currently the fastest performing processor available today. It is ideally suited for network server applications, graphics/CAD intensive applications or for people that want absolutely the most powerful processor and performance that money can buy.

AMD

Athlon—AMD's latest offering, the K7 Athlon offers performance  equal to that of Intel's Pentium IV but at a more attractive price than the Pentium IV. Again, it is ideally suited to the same applications as Intel's Pentium IV

Mid Performance/Priced CPUs. . .

For Business and Personal Computing Needs

Intel

Celeron—The Celeron Processor from Intel is a more moderately priced alternative to their Pentium IV processor. It is ideally suited for the more powerful home PC or for the average business PC. If price is a major factor in your purchasing decision, you can start with this processor now and upgrade to a Pentium IV later!

AMD

Duron —TheDuron performs similarly to Intel's Celeron, above. You can, of course upgrade to AMD's K7 Athlon later at a more affordable upgrade price than a Celeron/Pentium IV upgrade. This processor represents a wise choice for consumers who desire good performance with future upgradability but at a lower price.

Budget Priced CPUs. . .

For the Really Budget Concious
